Talking School Interiors That Encourage Young Minds With Vivek
How do you create an exciting space that is responsible for our future generations? A space that has to survive day-to-day wear and tear daily of hundreds of kids? Not only the designing is challenging but you are establishing the foundation of a generation?
Designing a school is not a easy task, it’s not only about budget but there are so many constraints to think about. But the more you will read about the real-time experiences of our designers the better it will get.
That is why this week on designer chat, we got Vivek who is designing the school interiors with Mansionly to share a little about his day-to-day work at Mansionly.
Great to have you with us Vivek and thank you for agreeing to do this. So let’s understand what exactly were the client’s aspirations for the school?
I was introduced after 25 days of the initial pitch of the project. So, I had to get in the client’s mindset really fast. In the first meeting, they were furious and confused. To be honest they didn’t have any clear picture of what they wanted as a whole. They had ideas of almost 10 Playschools for their one playschool.
So, I and Ritika had to convince them what can work for them in their budget. They wanted a Cafe for working mom’s, so we came up with some really cool and creative ideas. which they liked instantly. For overall we did a cityscape kind of thing with a park in the middle and roads on the sides where kids can actually drive toy cars. It has a train shaped cafe, bus-shaped cabin. And in the rear end, they have slides and ball pool. They wanted it to be lively that’s what we designed for them.
Have there been any challenges with this project so far?
Yes, there were many challenges when you start designing, it’s really important for you to match your wavelength with the perspective of the client. Initially, we struggled with it as it was a pilot playschool for me as well as for Ritika. So, when clients came up with some unrealistic or over the budget ideas we really appreciated their approach but had to turn them. As keeping the budget and elements of design aligned was of utmost priority for us as interior designers.
Once the project is completed, do you think the client will be happy with Mansionly’s work?
We have been 100% supportive of the client’s needs regarding any site queries and design related problems. We have done conference calls with them even late in the night. We completed their project in record time along with all the GFCs. I am hopeful that our clients will be happy with Mansionly’s work as their interior designers. But. there’s an old saying about clients “A Happy client is a myth” so let’s keep our fingers crossed until we hand over the project to them.
What had been your favorite part of this project?
We at Mansionly are open to the challenges. This project for our designers has been challenging as each furniture piece for this project have been custom made. We were raking our brains out to create something out of our comfort zone that was as unique as our client’ s needs.
And considering this School is going to bring smiles into kids’ faces, for me, that’s the best reward professionally.
While we’re going to now let the expert get back to designing the most stunning spaces with his interiors philosophy, you can contact him on Mansionly.
