The Return Of Luxurious Black Interiors
Black is back. It never really went out of style, as it’s one of the more classic colour choices, but the dramatic and edgy look created by the colour is becoming one of the boldest trends. When used the right way, the colour black can lend sophistication which no other colour truly brings in. So how do you incorporate this colour in your interior? Take a look at some of our tips.
COMBINE IT WELL
You can’t use the colour alone. You have to complement it with the right colour. Black-red and Black-white are the most popular options. You have to be careful while using the colour because too much of it can be too overwhelming and a little depressing. Balance the colour with a vibrant or a neutral shade. You can go for a statement stark black wall. Don’t go around painting more walls black in the same room as it can get a little gloomy.
Add some minimalist elements, like a painting with some brighter colours, or some golden light fixtures. Or your walls can have a mix of black and some other neutral colour. Spend time on this and be patient because striking the right colour combination is very important especially when you work with black. Just remember one important rule when you go for a black wall, it doesn’t go well with too much colour. Black goes best with the minimalistic look and looks very sophisticated. If you aren’t a fan, then opt for a wall which has shades of black combined with some other colours. Make sure it isn’t the dominating colour.
FOCUS ON THE FLOOR
Black tiles in the bathroom can be very glamorous and dramatic. But it will be hard work. Black tiles require a lot of care to keep them clean. If you ready to give scrubbing them some extra time, then go for it, the whole look is probably worth it!
The colour can also be used in your kitchen to make it look sleek and sophisticated. Black kitchen cabinets and table tops can change your kitchen’s entire look. Combine black cabinets with some woodwork and you have yourself a kitchen tres chic. Black granite is especially popular when it comes to kitchen counter tops and not only does it look great, it’s also low maintenance as its quite easy to clean. A perfect example of aesthetics plus functionality.
This can be a tricky area and depends on your living situation. We suggest you skip this point if you have pets at home as fur shows easily on black and you will have a hard time cleaning it up all the time. If you don’t however, there are reasons to consider black furniture. Apart from the aesthetics, where it will add a serious gram of sophistication to your room, black hides stains and most dirt. So add a little bit of glam to your room with a black sofa or some black chairs. Make sure they aren’t put up against a plain black wall. Remember, always think about combinations which complement each other and lend the room exactly the kind of mood that you’re looking for.
MORE SHADES OF BLACK
It’s a complete no-no to try and blend different shades of black. This will create a faded effect which doesn’t look good. If you don’t want to experiment with black, or are just starting out, you can start small. Add some black coloured elements to your room. Like black cushions. If you have plants, you can use black pots, black vases for flowers and so on.
