Expert Tips On Interiors With Living Coral Pantone Color Of The Year
The wait is over and the Pantone color of the year 2019, has been announced – and it’s Living Coral. The pinky orange bright shade represents the vibrant yet mellow attitude for the year and we’re all about it! With the golden undertone added to the livable shade of coral being used for interiors, our expert international designers believe living coral sure is the one shade that can be used as an accent in practically any room, livening up the space in no time!
If you haven’t heard of it yet or seen the color, here’s what the gorgeous shade looks like – every reason for it to be named the Pantone color of the year 2019.
Here’s what our expert interior designers have to say about the living coral Pantone color of the year 2019.
1. Gives your furnishings a fresh look
For all those wondering living coral could be too bright for their homes, our expert international designers, Federica Sibilla Bontempi, thinks otherwise.
“Living coral is a great color. It is great for soft furnishings, rugs, blankets, and covers. It creates a feeling of warmth and comfort almost instantly. In fact, it is also great with lighter wood and organic shapes, and materials. It goes along with practically all the warm shades, soft whites, grays, and even black.”
2. Approaches modern with a new perspective
We heard how you believe that living coral might kill the classic modern interiors of your home thanks to its vibrant shade. But the truth is, the Pantone color of the year actually makes for an elegant choice that further enhances your interior style. Here’s what our expert interior designer, Rachele Cartechini has to say.
“I think living coral is super elegant for fabrics on furniture pieces like the pouf, armchair, and cushions for the sofa. It actually works perfectly with different styles of interiors – modern or classic, it blends in easily to give it a fresh look altogether.”
3. Brings nature closer home
Living coral is already gaining popularity for its warm shade that gives a positive vibe. But choosing it as the Pantone color of the year has a bigger message for everyone who truly cares about nature and has been working on adopting ethical home decor. Our expert interior designer, Luca from Wafer Studio explains this.
“It will influence a lot of fields (fashion, design, cooking) as per the CEO of Pantone because it is inspired by the cause of wanting to protect the coral reef. This attention to the environment must be spread as much as possible in our daily lives. I think the color has an important message – the new attitude of us humans to be closer to nature, and not end up killing it. It is time to not steal, but be inspired by the colors and bring them home. I personally love it!”
4. Follows the trend of maximalism and minimalism
If you have a boho soul and love maximalism when it comes to your home interiors, well, living coral is the perfect shade for you. And if you’re a minimalist, it has to become your go-to to add a little pop of color. As our expert interior designer, Theresa Obermoser says, the color mixes perfectly with various patterns and textures. And if you’ve been a fan of the millennial pink, you should definitely hear what she has to say.
“Living coral is a worthy successor to the millennial pink. I love that these super feminine hues are so powerful that they now rule the interior design and fashion world. This strong color is perfect to mix with various patterns and textures to follow the new trend of maximalism, but it also really works to just add some color to a very clean minimal beige based place with some living coral color cushions for instance.”
5. Evokes positivity in any space
Like we said right at the beginning, while living coral sure is a brighter Pantone shade, it has a warm and positive vibe to it. And that’s what makes it perfect for home interiors this year – let’s call it starting the year on a positive note. Our expert interior designer, Pamela Chami is of the same opinion.
“Pantone’s Living Coral for 2019, is a vibrant shade of golden orange. It is absolutely a color that will set all choices for designers for the year to come. It is bold and uplifting, yet feels undertone and soft. The color evokes the nourishing and positive impact of corals on marine life while still reminding us of the devastating effect of today’s society on the environment. Moreover, the living coral color conjures up the Art Deco movement as witnessed in Miami’s architecture back in the days which can recreate a new daring and colorful trend combined with a contemporary touch.”
6. Makes a retro statement
For those of us who loved the retro decor style, living coral sure takes us all the way back. But if you’re someone who thinks modern minimalism is as important and using too much of the shade in any room might make it look overdone, our expert interior designer, Helen zu Oettingen-Wallerstein has the perfect tip for you.
“Pantone living coral is the most retro in-color of recent years. As much as this color is fantastic in fashion and a personal favorite, in interiors it should be used with care. Less is more – too much in a room will make it look almost kitsch, like an over-decorated nursery. Used sparingly as a statement, it will add warmth to any room.”
7. Brings in joy
If it hasn’t been said enough number of times already, this year’s Pantone color of the year is all about the positive vibes and energy. Our designer Selena Bergantin explains it in as many words here.
“Finally Pantone has announced that the color of 2019 will be the Living Coral 16-1546, a soft and vibrant nuance that symbolizes the research for joy and the need to be optimistic and constant energy. This shade is an orange joint with pink, which forms a color full of energy, and in a warmer tone, gives us both the feeling of comfort and the most intense and joyful side. Living Coral can be incorporated into the furnishings (cushions, rugs, vases, and details), it is an easy tone to create combinations, of course, not always as a primary color, but mainly as luminous and dynamic accents. Moreover, it can be used in combination with Earth tones (terracotta), as both have the warmest and most nature-friendly imprint. The result is a very contemporary environment with an almost monochromatic atmosphere. It’s like turning space into a bubble of positive energy!”
